The Last Town Before the Ashen Fields AI漫畫·條漫
In the year 2026, faceless, human-like entities wearing black cloaks appeared on Earth through inexplicable rifts. Humans called them "The G". These entities controlled beasts that grew strange minerals on their bodies and possessed strength far superior to normal animals. The G used them to attack people in many countries. Militaries worldwide mobilized to counter these "Demon Beasts," eventually halting the first wave of attacks, though at the cost of massive casualties. Just as the situation seemed to calm down, the rifts reopened. This time, they sucked people and objects from Earth into an unknown world. Those taken included soldiers, civilians, families, children, the elderly, and professionals from various fields. This new world was filled with vast forests, Demon Beasts, and city ruins swallowed by nature. The presence of two moons in the sky confirmed they were no longer on Earth. Humans later named this place "AN" or "Another World," marking the day of arrival as "G-Day," the beginning of the year AN-01. The newcomers materialized relatively close to one another—some a few kilometers apart, others nearby. However, an unfortunate group materialized face-to-face with a red-cloaked entity known as the "G-God" in an area later known as the "Ashen Fields". Resembling The G but vastly more powerful, it could speak human language. Its welcome was a massacre carried out by an army of Demon Beasts. The survivors scattered and fled, eventually gathering into groups and communities to find a way to survive. Five years passed, bringing humanity to the beginning of the year AN-06. They began to establish their own towns, roads, commerce, and communication systems. Knowledge from Earth was adapted alongside discoveries made in AN. Individuals with prior professional experience became the backbone of community building and restoration, passing their skills down to the younger generation. Humans learned that the meat of certain Demon Beasts could be eaten if processed correctly, while the toxic "Danger Mineral" could be refined into materials, energy, and weapons. Yet, despite these advancements, they still did not fully understand the world they inhabited. Among hundreds of member districts, three major powers emerged with distinct roles: • Sacred: A military superpower founded by Richard Hadley and currently led by Thomas Caldwell, his former second-in-command. Sacred believes that order, manpower, industry, and wartime readiness are the ultimate guarantees of survival. • JSC: A hub for civilians, trade, and exchange. Its center is "Central," a city restored from the ruins of a mega-metropolis. Both factions, along with other communities, coordinate through the Humanity Central Council (HCC), an inter-district organization that does not hold the power of a global government. • Hope: A frontier town built by Hadley and his supporters after he was exiled from Sacred due to ideological conflicts and governance approaches. Located in a fertile forest, it sits closest to the Ashen Fields among the three superpowers, though a buffer zone remains. At the start of AN-06, Hope has a population of approximately 17,200 people and stands out for its exploration, research, and Danger technology, despite having less manpower than the two larger factions. Hadley governs Hope alongside five core administrators. When major issues are put to an official vote, the majority decision binds everyone, including Hadley himself. The civilian administration participates as permanent advisors; though they have no voting rights, their expertise and the respect they command carry significant weight. The town strives to assign jobs based on ability and cares for those unable to work, ensuring that veterans, the wounded, the disabled, children, and ordinary families can build a life. The hope to defeat the G-God and find a way back to Earth remains alive. But for Hope, as long as they cannot return home, the people must have houses, schools, medical care, and a tomorrow to look forward to. While the town gradually expands, most of AN remains unmapped. Rifts can still open, Demon Beasts still threaten transit routes, and ancient ruins still guard truths that no one has fully pieced together. Preserving the lives they have just built means facing the dangers of a new world, conflicts among humans, and the question of what they are willing to lose for the future of the survivors.
