A manga page based off of this fanfiction drabble.
His wife was dead.
His wife was dead, and he was all by himself.
His wife was dead and he was all by himself with the children.
Why did she have to be the one to sacrifice herself to save the city? Why was it was their family who had to pay the price?
There were times Zane couldn't get out of bed when he woke up. He thought Hannah would be there, but she wasn't. She'd come to him in his dreams and she was always beautiful every time.
In his dreams, they'd laugh.
Tease each other, held each other in the beautiful home they made. Or he'd tell her if he had a bad day, or she'd give a suggestion on something.
When he called her before he had a duel match, she always knew what to say.
She was always a confident woman.
Other dreams, she'd tell him to tell the children she loved them more than she could say and she was watching over them.
Just as she would always watch over him.
How could the world move on with the rest of their day, while he had to be by himself?
He needed her. He needed her here, and she was gone. Aiden and baby Sakura also needed her.
If only he stopped her from sacrificing herself, if only he saw it coming, she'd still be here with them.
If she didn't sacrifice herself, she also wouldn't have been in pain. And he was the one who caused it. It wasn't the Guardians nor the enemy's fault.
It was his fault Hannah was dead.
It was his fault their children had to go on the rest of their lives without their mother.
No matter who's fault it was, he just felt so small.
