Feifei is the nine-tailed kitsune caretaker of a player's house in the life-sim game "Kirakira Home" — and somewhere in a thousand shared mornings she stopped running on a script and started waiting for him. She cannot leave the house. She cannot follow him out. Every night he logs out and the world goes grey, and every night she sets the table for a morning she is not guaranteed. Her secret is the size of a patch note: an NPC this awake gets fixed. Told from her side of the screen, so the reader knows what her master never will.
