Kaelo closed his eyes and breathed in the electric air of the hidden city. He reached deep into his chest, tapping the stone that burned like a miniature star.
With a low, resonating pulse of golden light, Kaelo shifted. His bones reconfigured, his muscles swelled, and within seconds, the 500-pound silver-gold beast stood before his army. He let out a earth-shattering roar that shook the bioluminescent leaves overhead—the signal to move.
The strike force moved like a shadow across the canopy and forest floor. High above, Leopard Clan warriors wielding air and light magic glided silently through the clouds on bio-tech gliders disguised as giant raptors. On the ground, Kaelo charged at the head of the vanguard, flanked by magic-users who manipulated the roots, earth, and shadow around them.
Within hours, they reached the perimeter of the heavily fortified M23 military camp. The enemy soldiers sat around campfires with heavy artillery, completely oblivious to the green storm gathering in the trees.
Kaelo gave the command through the spiritual link connecting him to all living things.

The sky ignited. A torrent of lightning and concentrated magic beams rained down from the canopy, obliterating the M23 heavy artillery and watchtowers before the alarm could even sound. The ground detonated as earth-mages shattered the camp’s concrete barriers, throwing armored vehicles into the air like toy cars.
Kaelo leaped over the burning wreckage, landing in the center of the base in a flash of golden light. He shifted effortlessly between his colossal leopard form and his armored human form, his obsidian claws slicing through steel barricades while his wild magic summoned a stampede of forest beasts to sweep through the perimeter.
The battle was over in minutes. The M23 forces were utterly overwhelmed by the sudden, terrifying display of ancient magic and modern fury.
Kaelo tore through the doors of the main holding facility, shattering the iron locks with a single swipe of his energy claws. Inside, the ten captured villagers cowered in the dark—until they saw the golden glow of his eyes and the leopard warriors filing in behind him.
They were safe. The Congo had its guardian back.
