On the scrapyard desert world of Dusthollow, four mismatched space travellers collect their brand-new cargo hauler, the Hotdish, only to find it has no jump drive. The one person in the wastes who has a drive is Clover, a punk-rock vampire scavenger. She won't take money, only a place on the crew. They escape the pirate queen's invasion with seconds to spare. Then they find out whose drive they just installed.
