Barrette AIマンガ・コミックIt was the Summer Festival Ball, and Hannah's parents were hosting it.
She checked to see if Zane was going to be there, and with luck, his name was on the guest list. Of course he was coming. Dad sponsored him in his Pro Dueling matches, and they had a great professional friendship.
She was always used to attending formal functions with her family, so she knew what to do at events like these.
Though Zane was going to be there.
It was a great thing, though a little nerve wrecking.
Yet, she knew she was going to make the most of tonight.
Stepping out of the car, she wore a flowing, light blue dress. Blue, of course in tribute to her father's Duel Monsters card the Blue Eyes White Dragon.
Out followed Seto, Cassie, and Will.
They already had supper at the restaurant, so aside from socializing, there'd be punch and hors d'oeuvres.
Aside from celebrating the summer and networking, they also held a fundraiser for Duel Academy. All proceeds went to a scholarship to cover tuition.
And there was another reason why Zane was there. To promote the school since he was a graduate.
He walked up to all four of them. Didn't he look amazing in his suit.
He was an amazing guy, but he looked even more amazing tonight.
As they left, she lightly waved at him. He nodded back. No, she had to do this.
She dashed to him.
She whispered, "hold on to this for me..."
She gave him her flower barette that once belonged to her Great-Grandmother Sakura. Sakura got it in Hong Kong as a little girl.
Things like that should be locked up and never be taken out like this.
Though she trust Zane, and she knew it was safe in his hands.
His hands were always the gentlest.
She looked out to the city as the lights and sound of cars went through the night.
She wouldn't admit this out loud, but she was glad to be away from everyone. Tonight was so perfect.
"Hey..."
Turning, she saw who it was.
"Hey, Zane," she said. He joined her on the marble ledge. "Great speech you gave. It really showed how great the school was. Dad really appreciate it."
Seto did found the school after all.
And if he didn't, she wouldn't have met Zane.
He nodded.
He took out the flower barette. "You want this back, right? I can't exactly use it."
They both laughed.
Great-Grandmother Sakura did raise her mother, Cassie. Since Cassie's mother passed away when she was little, Sakura was the only mother she ever knew.
Even though it was the only momento of Cassie's grandmother, she gave it to Hannah.
"Actually, you can keep it..." she began, closing his hand on the barrette. "Just as a little reminder of me. Just be careful with it. It was my great-grandmother's."
"I'll be sure of that."
This was happening, right. An evening gown, a big fancy party, and the guy she liked was next to her?
Tonight couldn't be anymore perfect.
She raised herself to meet his level, and her eyes were beginning to close.
She kissed him, and soon she felt him kissing her back.
As they parted from the kiss, she realized if anyone saw this, especially her father, she'd be in so much trouble.
But let them see.
Tonight indeed couldn't be anymore perfect.
