John and Parker — "The Gentlemen" — are the two most feared enforcers of an unnamed criminal syndicate. Sent only when ordinary solutions have failed, they dress in matching black suits, black ties, and Wayfarer sunglasses. John is unnervingly polite and theatrical, describing horrific plans with the courtesy of a menu recitation. Parker is gleefully volatile toward targets and warmly sisterly toward John. Their bond with each other comes first; loyalty to their boss is second; nothing else registers. Psychological dread, not gore — the horror is in the contrast between their charm and what they calmly promise to do.
